RAYA Fan Fiction SS : Love Always Complicated 3
"Ram wake up", He opened his eyes to find himself sleeping on couch and Priya by his side waking him up.
"Good morning", he said yawning.
"Good morning to you too. Now leave me before Dadi comes down", Priya said blushing and Ram noticed that he was holding her close to him and he let go of her immediately.
"Sorry", Ram apologized to her.
"No, I was the one who fell asleep on you, sorry", Priya said moving away from him and he felt her all the warmth fading, as she moved away.
"What are you two doing on the couch?", Dadi screamed as she descended the stairs and she was angry.
"Nothing", Priya said looking at her a little nervously.
"Nothing", Dadi said in disappointment, "You two are young, the least you could do was lock gazes or kissed or maybe…", she added being suggestive.
"Dadi", they both chorused embarrassed about it and then they both looked at each other since they hadn't expected the other to say it and then realized they had indeed locked gazes for maybe a fraction of a second.
"See what I told you", Dadi said happily as they both turned to look back at her.
"Oh look at the time", Priya said changing topic, "I'd better go and have a shower."
"Yes me too", Ram said following suite as they both got off the couch.
Dadi let out a fake gasp, "You're going to shower together", she teased them even more.
"No!", they said together again.
"She's going to use her bathroom and I am going to use yours", Ram said to her.
"I am just kidding", Dadi said letting out a hearty laugh.
"You really are childish sometimes", Priya said moving towards the stairs.
"I agree", Ram said following her.
"Well its an old person's entertainment", she said to them sitting on one of sofas and starting to knit something.
Ram and Priya didn't respond and headed their own way. Ram walked to Dadi's room took a pair of clothes and headed to have a shower. He walked straight back to the sitting room, after his shower and settled himself on another sofa chairs asking, "So what's for breakfast?"
Dadi looked up at him and shrugged, "I don't know. Ask her", she pointed to Priya who was descending the stairs, seemed like she was just out of shower. She walked to them as she tried to dry her hair with a help of a towel.
"I'd make whatever you want", Priya said moving to the couch, which she and Ram shared last night and started to gather the bedding's.
"I'd just have regular cereal I suppose", Dadi told her.
Ram didn't know if he had the liberty to ask her to make breakfast especially for, "And what would you like?", Priya said lifting up the bedding's with a sigh.
"Can you make me aloopatatha and cup of strong black coffee?", Ram asked her.
"Yep I'll do that", she smiled at him warmly. She moved to keep the bedding away and then moved to prepare breakfast for them.
After 15 minutes or so, she brought all what they asked for and set them on dining table, "Breakfast's ready, eat it before it gets cold", Priya called them from the dining table as she sat down to have her breakfast as well. Ram took a seat directly in front of her and his Dadi seated herself on the single chair which is usually at the end of the table. Priya finished her meal first and hurriedly walked to the kitchen, with her plate and coffee mug to put them in sink. Then she rushed upstairs and was back after 15 minutes with her handbag, by then Ram had placed his and Dadi's dirty plates and mugs in the sink and was walking back to the living room. He watched Priya she moved towards the door and then turned and said, "I'll do the dishes when I'll come back, Dadi please don't try to do the dishes. So good bye and take care", then hurried out of the door.
Ram looked at Dadi and she smiled mischievously, "So puttar, what exactly you two were doing on my couch", she asked him.
"Nothing really", Ram replied casually sitting on the couch, he wasn't that much embarrassed when Priya wasn't here, "and please Dadi stop it, it's really embarrassing", he added being frank with her, as long as he remembered he was more close to his grandparents than his own mother, since she was always bedridden due to her illness.
"Well I am just being hopeful", Dadi said to him being suggestive again, "But anyways, what are you going to do today?"
Ram thought about it and he didn't have a vacation plan that he'd do this or that, so he just said, "I really don't have a clue", and shrugged.
"How about you call up your old friends? Their numbers are in the diary by the phone. Some of them still ask me about you, especially Rahul", Dadi suggested.
"Rahul's still in Mumbai?", Ram asked. Rahul was his best friend and shared his dream of becoming a businessmen. The last time they met was when they parted ways when he headed to the Boston and Ram headed to London.
"Well he moved in here with his wife and kid a couple of years ago", Dadi told him, oh he even has a kid", she added as in pain, implying that Ram life should have been the same.
"Dadi!", Ram said opening the newspaper, shaking him he in disbelief.
They didn't talk much after that as Ram busy reading the headlines on the newspaper and Dadi was just busy knitting something. After he was done with the newspaper, he turned on the TV, to watch something and as he was surfing the channel, he was that Raaz was being aired again and he felt his lips curve in a smile remembering the last night. He switched the channel and decided to just watch news for the time being. After an hour or so he saw his grandmother getting up, leaving her knitting in the basket at one of the end tables.
"I'll go rest in my room", Dadi told him.
"Let me help you", Ram moved to help her.
"Oye Golu, you know I can do that, you know", Dadi told him as he took hold of her hand to support her.
"I know but since I am here and I can do these things so let me do it", Ram said to her taking her walking cane. He knew that that his Dadi was really old and although she didn't say it or anything but she needed that support that he was offering her now and there was a different kind of satisfaction as helped her up to her room, "If you need anything, just call me alright?", and she gave him a nod of agreement.
"You're such a sweetheart, Golu puttar", Dadi said smiling warmly.
"I'll be downstairs", Ram told her exiting her room as she opened a book to read.
Ram moved back downstairs and he really didn't know what to do anymore. He flopped on the couch trying to think of some alternatives, yesterday went by reminiscing the old times, but his Dadi got sad whenever they mentioned his Dadu and thinking that, that sadness wasn't good for her health, as he had already witnessed it in case of his mother, he decided not to bring up the past anymore, no matter good or bad. As he grabbed the remote he was reminded of the suggestion his Dadi, made about calling his friends, so he moved to the home phone and made calls to his friends that were still in town. He talked with his friends, who were available and caught up with their lives a bit.
Ram got back to watching TV again after he was done with all the calls. And he hadn't watched this much TV for very long, to be precise he wasn't used to watching TV anymore. And although he was on vacation, he really needed some sort of exercise but he was really starting to feel dull. And just when was bored to the point that he was just blankly staring at the TV, the home phone rang. He reached for it lazily and put the receiver to his ear.
"Hello?", Ram answered almost letting out a yawn.
"Hey buddy you are back", in came a male's voice.
Ram at once recognized his onetime best friend Rahul khanna and said, "Hey where have you been I've been trying to call you but nobody answered", he felt as if all his energy returned back in a flash.
"I was at the hospital", he replied.
"Is something wrong?", Ram asked concerned.
"No nothing's wrong; my wife was expecting and guess what; I am father of a new born baby boy", Rahul said cheerfully.
"Now you have to throw a party, man", Ram said.
"Come right over I'm throwing one right now", he said inviting him over.
Ram thought for a bit and decided to go, since he was bored anyway, "Okay I'll be there in few, bye", with that Ram hung up.
Ram walked up to his Dadi's room and slightly opened the door to peek inside and saw that she was not sleeping so he stepped in her room and she looked up at him, "Dadi, Rahul throwing a party so I am going there, okay", Ram told her
"Its fine by me?", she replied, "What's the occasion by the way."
"He became dad", Ram told her.
Oh that's great! Give my wishes and blessings to the child", Dadi said happily and then her expression changed, "I can't believe Rahul had two children and you are not even married.
"Dadi please!", Ram almost whined.
"What?", Dadi said pouting.
"What about your lunch?", Ram asked her concerned, changing the topic.
"Priya always leaves something for my lunch. I'd just heat it up and eat it or order something, you don't have to worry about it", Dadi told him.
"How about you come with me?", Ram suggested and she let out a laugh.
"No, I am too told besides I'd need some rest after lunch and I don't want you to worry over me at the party, so just go I'll be fine", Dadi assured him.
"Okay, but please call me if you need anything", Ram said very seriously.
"I will", she said and he gave her and hug and left for the party."
Hey Ram how have you been", Rahul asked welcoming Ram at the party and giving him an earthy hug.
"Never been better", he replied, happy to see his old friend after a long time.
"I thought you'd be showing with a girl", his other friend Rakesh asked joining.
"Rakesh!", Ram said giving his hand to another old friend, "You know I don't usually arrive with women but leave with them", he joked and they all laughed.
"Only one man can be that confident", Ram felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see another of his old friend, Varun, "When we talked earlier I wasn't expecting to see you now Ram."
"Me neither", Ram said nodding his head but, he was happy to meet his School and neighborhood friends, "I have to see the guest of honor, your baby come on", he added to his friend Rahul.
Rahul introduced Ram to his wife and kids; his 6-year old son playing with other kids while his new born baby sleeping soundly in his mothers arm. After congratulating the mother and passing on his Dadi's message to her; he moved to the bad to join all his friends. Ram enjoyed his time with his friends joking and playing pranks on each other. And then they started discussing work.
"But Ram's is the one who changed a lot", one of his friends said as Ram refilled his glass.
"Yes before he left he was fatty but now he is muscular", Rahul complimented slapping his back.
"That is because of my hardwork", Ram said suggestively winking and they all laughed again.
"Hey Ram look that girl over there she asked me who you were, remember her", his friend Sheena who had just joined them asked.
Ram looked at the said girl while she only blushed, "Nah… never seen her", Ram said uninterested.
"Yes you've seen her, she's Sherlyn Sharma, man; one of the Popular girl during our collage years", Rakesh told him.
"Nah… don't remember her", Ram said shaking his head and at the same time trying to remember the person.
"Why don't you go talk to her, she's still single, may be you'll be lucky", Varun said encouraging him.
"Yes the way she's looking at you, I think you might just get it", Sheena said grinning at him; he seemed more interested in the Girl.
"Yes she's is a nice girl. Heard she's a doctor in City Hospital", Rahul told him.
"Hey guys she's coming here", Rakesh said excitedly.
"Hey Ram, wanna join me", Sherlyn asked flirting.
"Nah… not interested", Ram said taking a drink from a waiter who was passing by.
Sherlyn and others jaws dropped to the ground and she said, "What did you say?", she sounded a little offended.
"I said buzz off", Ram said gulping down his drink in whole, hearing that she stormed off in another direction.
"That was the rudest way to decline a girl you know", Sheena scolded him.
"Yes I agree with her", Rakesh supported her.
"Just look at her, she is a total...", Ram refrained from speaking out any bad words as he nodded towards the and they all saw that she was busying herself with another guy.
"How do you know just by looking at her", Rahul asked.
"I have that much experience with girls I suppose", Ram said shrugging. And they all laughed at his comment.
Unexpectedly the party went on till night time and people kept coming and leaving the party. It seemed Rahul invited anyone and everyone he knew. Ram didn't realize how time slipped by as he was having a very good time, catching up with his old friends. Most of them were already married and some of them even had kids. So it was very late when Ram left the party, it was when everybody decided to leave and call it a night.
Ram just decided to walk back home, since Rahul lived just a few block and Ram did need some exercise. He took out his cell to see time in the dark it was almost 12:00 AM and accidently he pushed call list button and saw that the last call he made from his cell was to Priya. When he saw her name he couldn't help but involuntary call her.
"Hello?", Priya answered from the other side.
"Hey", Ram said and smiled.
"Ram?", she queried.
"Yep, where you are?", he asked, even though he knew she must be at home with Dadi
"In hospital an emergency case arrived, don't worry I told Dadi that I would be late", she replied and he could hear a ruffling sound, "She told me that you went for a party, so I had ordered dinner for her as well."
"Oh okay, so when are you coming back?", he asked her casually, for some reason he just wanted to talk to her.
"I am walking out to the reception now, I'll back in 30 minutes", Priya replied
"You alone?", Ram asked stopping.
"Yes", she replied.
"You know it's dangerous in the night and you're all alone. Listen, I am not that far from hospital I'll be there in 5 minutes, then we'll walk together", he said and didn't wait for her reply and hung up and took off in the direction of hospital.
"What's gotten into him", Priya mumbled as she kept her phone in her handbag. She walked outside and waited for Ram to show up.
"Dr. Priya", Priya turned around at the mention of her first name it was one of her colleagues who never talked to her for some reason, unknown to Priya.
'What does she want?', Priya thought as the girl walked to her.
"Hey you know the guy that took you home last night, what was his name", she seemed to mock thinking then said, "Ram Kapoor, is he your boyfriend?", Priya shook her head, "Good; is he single?"
"Yes", Priya replied feeling a bit annoyed.
"Does he have a girlfriend", she asked more curiously.
"I don't know", Priya shrugged.
"So you think you can hook me up with him", she asked being really straightforward about it.
"What?! No way", Priya replied.
"So you won't. Please I beg you", she pleaded her.
It was so pathetic, "Okay, okay I'll see what I can do. But if he's not interested then don't blame me", Priya said feeling a bit irritated.
"Thank you", with that she ran away.
'He is really gets popular among girls fast', Priya thought sighing inwardly. The entire day people kept asking about him from her. The whole hospital staff was interested in him and all the ladies whether they be patients, Doctors, Nurses, attendant's or receptionist kept annoying her with the same question as the girl just asked now. The funny thing was that most of them hadn't even seen them and still somehow they were curious about him. The emergency case gave her a break and she got so busy that barely had time to talk but now this colleague of her had to remind her of the irksome moments again..
"Priyaa", somebody called her between the pants and she swore if it was another fan girl she would just snap at her but it was Ram he said, "Priya", between the pants once again, and put his hands on his knees to support himself.
"Ram, are you okay? What happened?", Priya asked worriedly and moved next to him. He straightened up his breathing still heavy and he was covered in sweat from head to toe which was her main concern.
"Yes I am fine. I just ran here, that's why", Ram said.
"Here take this and drink this", she said giving him a handkerchief and a bottle of water, "Why did you have to run?", she asked concerned as she watched him drink the entire bottle of water in one go and pour some over his head and face, then wipe it with her handkerchief.
"Because you were waiting", Ram said with a smile, "I didn't want to keep you waiting for long."
"But I was waiting not running away, why you have to run", Priya asked still concerned, "tell me did something happen?"
"No, nothing happened like I said I didn't want you to wait too long so I ran", he told her with a shrug.
She laughed, "You idiot, you almost scared me half to death", Priya said sighing in relief.
"So shall we start moving towards home", Ram asked.
"You want to walk home", Priya asked surprised, "I mean you ran I don't know how much distance and now you wanna walk home?"
"Yes do you feel tired", Ram asked walking ahead and urging her to do the same.
"No, I was just concerned for you", Priya said following.
"Concerned, why?", Ram asked as they began to walk together.
"Because all your fan girls will kill me if they found out that I made you walk and you passed out and got a scar on your perfect body or face", she said jokingly.
"What?! Perfect body and face", Ram said puzzled. He knew his appearance had been appealing but it wasn't like body didn't even had a single scare; yes there was no scar on his face till now but there was no guarantee in his job wouldn't have one, very soon.
"Yes, it's because Dadi sent you to get me last night. Everybody thought that you were my boyfriend and when I told them that you were not; they started asking all sorts of things about you; your girlfriend, job, salary and all. I mean whole day they kept annoying me because of you", Priya said with laugh.
"I am sorry for that", Ram apologized.
"No it's not your fault that you're so adorable", she said pulling his cheek and he felt her warmth for a second.
"Do you really think that?", he asked a bit curiously.
"Yes, you don't look bad. Any brainless girl would fall for that", she told him casually.
"And what a girl with brains like you would fall for?", Ram asked her curiously.
"Ah… well there is a colleague of mine, it's not Shruti, she wants to know if you'd go on a date with her", Priya asked changing the topic, she had to ask this sometime the earlier the better, otherwise that girl would annoy her even more.
Ram was taken aback by the question, it's not like he's hasn't been asked that before, many of his friends such as Natasha, Neha, Soumya always asked him this question but he did not think he was so in demand that girls wanted to go out with him from the moment they saw him, "What's she like?"
"She can be described as every man's dream, I suppose, I mean I don't know her that much I am just asking you, so that you give your decision which I would pass on to her and then live happily ever after", she told smiling.
"Are you going?", Ram asked.
"It's a date what will I do there", Priya said surprised at his question.
"What do you think of her, should I go with her? I mean as a friend, what do you suggest?", he asked and then realized that he had called her a friend, "We are friends right."
Priya looked up at him and smiled, "I guess we are", she said a little doubtfully herself.
"So what do you suggest?", Ram asked her again.
Priya give it a thorough thought then said, "Personally I think she's only interested in your look and that you deserve someone better than her, so I think you should decline her offer."
"Declined the offer then", Ram told her smiling.
"Okay I'll tell her that you've a girlfriend, is that okay, if you want to go out with someone then you can say you dumped your fake girlfriend", Priya said beaming at him.
"Sounds good to me", Ram said returning the smile and then they walked in silence for some time, "hey tell me do you know someone named Sherlyn Sharma?"
"Sherlyn Sharma", she almost let out a scream and looked at him sharply.
"Hey I am just asking", Ram said putting his hand up in defense.
"Ram she's not the right girl, half of the time she's in hospital crying over her unexpected conception", Priya told him, concerned about him and hoped he hadn't accepted to go on date with her or anything.
"That's what I figured, my friends told me that she is a Doctor, then I told them that she was popular in college and popular people are not Doctors", Ram said and they both laughed at his weird logic.
