RAYA Fan Fiction SS : Love Always Complicated 4

They walked in silence for couple of minutes, then Ram heard someone whistling, he turned to look sideways and saw some drunkard goon by a lamppost, "Ignore them", Priya whispered and held his arm tight and he felt the warmth which he liked, "Let's move", she kinda tried to pull him by his arm.
As they walked, a little further one of them yelled, "You've got a nice one there." Ram ignored it. "A hot one too", another said as they started following them. "Just look at her, I swear man if…", one of them was speaking, but Ram turned and punched him in the face as he could not take it anymore.
The man fell backward and stumbled to stand up, "Ram don't", Priya pleaded a little scared, still holding his arm.
Ram released himself from her warm clutch and said, "Trust me."

The two other goons went to help the one who fell over and helped him to stand up, "We got a hot head here boys", he said, standing up.
"Yes, boss, we'll have fun with him and then with his girlfriend," one of the goon said.
"You won't get any fun", Ram said, smiling; he almost forgot the fun of kicking someone's ass.

They charged at him one after another, but Ram fights over one enemy and he didn't even break a sweat in dodging their incoming attacks. It had been sometime that he had a one-on-one fight.

Priya just stood away from the fight and watched Ram throw a couple of punches, knocking out of two of the men. The other two drew knives, making her gasp as they lunged at Ram. What happened next, Priya wasn't expecting it, as almost with lightening speed Ram drew out two dual handguns and aimed at the two drunkards. They dropped their weapons and made a run for it, leaving the two of their friends behind. Ram always had his jacket on, and Priya did not know that he had weapons concealed underneath it. He kept his.

"I am sorry," Ram said, moving up to her, "I didn't want you to see this side of my personality but those guys were just too much."
"Are you okay?", Priya asked him, a little horrified and concerned.
"Yes, I am fine", Ram assured her with a smile.
Priya's expression turned serious, "Are you really The Ram Kapoor? The businessmen", she asked him.
"Hey, I might not look the type, but I know how to fight," Ram said, taking it as a joke.
"No, you don't understand," she said, shaking her head, "I am serious about."

"Priya, that's a good joke you," Ram said, letting out a laugh, "Don't you know me we've been living under the same roof for two days now. I walked you home last night, remember?"
"Yes, I remember everything, but that doesn't prove that you are The Ram Kapoor, the real Ram Kapoor," Priya said, and her tone seemed a little disturbing.
"You doubt my identity?", Ram asked, finally getting what she was saying and slightly she nodded, "My Dadi recognized me, in front of you."
"That's the thing Ram," she said seriously, "Your Dadi is not trustworthy anymore; at least her memories aren't?"
"What do you mean?", Ram asked her seriously.

Priya stared at him with a look of contemplation in her eyes and then spoke, "For some time now, she has trouble recognizing people. It's no trouble, if she's seeing them regularly such as in my case, but if it's someone she hasn't seen for a while, she gets confused. Although she looks at your old pictures tons of times in a day, but she wouldn't really be able to tell you apart if you were to show up with a person that's similar to you."

"How can you be so sure about that?", Ram asked her, not able to believing what she was telling him.
She took a deep breath, "Because it has happened before", Priya told him, rubbing one of her arms, as if trying to comfort herself, "I lost my Dadi then."
"What exactly happened?", Ram wanted to know everything now.

"After your Dada Ji died, my Dadi and your Dadi started spending a lot of time together. I guess because they were old friends, who now had a common loss to share. Then one day your Dadi showed with a guy who had similar features as you. She told us he was her grandson and all. We watched him and your Dadi always laughing, talking something or the other. I used to work at the city hospital then, and one day an emergency case came up and it was my Dadi. Your Dadi called the police and ambulance when she returned from shopping and saw my Dadi lying in a pool of blood in the living room. We somehow stabilized my Dadi and then during questioning police told me she suspect Amrit Dadi's grandson, who's been missing since then and they thought he had robbed the house as well but your Dadi couldn't really tell what was missing and I realized she was showing early signs of Alzheimer's disease, which was confirmed when the culprit was caught. He said that he was minding his own business when your Dadi called him Ram, and he saw she was rich, so he robbed her place. He stayed there a few days trying to figure out where the valuables were and the day he was about run away with all the stuff my Dadi walked in on him, because she always visited your Dadi then. When she confronted him about it, he stabbed and run away with all the things," Ram just couldn't believe that such a thing had happened when he wasn't around, "my Dadi tried to fight death for two days and in her last breath she asked your Dadi to take me her home."

"Was Dadi there when he confessed all this", Ram couldn't help but ask, since his Dadi didn't mention anything about it.
"Yes she was there, and she cried a lot then but I guess over the time she forgot that incident, just remember the detail that my Dadi was stabbed by a thief," Priya told him, "I guess that's good since she won't stress herself about it."
"And what about the disease?", Ram asked her again.
Priya gave him a nod, "She knows about it, from time to time she remembers she needs to take meds to prevent Alzheimer's but sometimes she forgets about it too."
"You're doubting me now?! You didn't doubt me before?", Ram couldn't help but ask her.
"Because I had seen an old photograph of yours only after the incident, so that it wouldn't happen again," she explained, "I thought boy can definitely grow up to be you, so I trusted you."

"And now you don't?", Ram asked her.
"It's just that your Dadi told me countless times that you are a businessman, but what are you doing with dual handguns?", she said seriously.
"Trust me, I am Ram Kapoor," Ram said to her.
"I really want to… but I am not sure anymore and I scared," she sounded troubled, scared and confused.
"What should I do make you believe I am Ram," Ram asked her.
"I know one of Ram's friend, if he vouches for you then I'd believe it," Priya told him.
"Who are you talking about?", Ram asked her.
"Rahul Khanna", Priya said.
"Rahul", Ram said, "Let's go now!", he grabbed her and they hurried back towards Rahul's place.

Ram knocked at his door and he at once opened it. He had not yet been to bed, "Hey Ram, Priya what are you doing here this time together?", he asked, looking from face to another.

Ram told him the entire story, and he happily took his side, confirming that Ram was indeed Ram. Priya really sighed in relief and didn't have that air of uneasiness around her, "Thank you very much", she thanked him sincerely.

"Hey no problem, I know you must have been scared," Rahul said understandably and then added "Priya can you please do us a favor?", and she gave him a nod, "Please tell us how to get baby asleep, it cried all night and we need sleep."
"Yes, sure, where is he?", she asked.
"Upstairs go straight to the bedroom, Krisha is there trying him to get asleep", Rahul told her and she made her way to the room. When she left, he turned to Ram and said, "Ram, one thing about Priya you should know", it seemed he had deliberately sent her upstairs to have this talk with Ram.

"What?", Ram asked, feeling a little tired after all the incident.
"That she's been looking after your grandmother all these years and is very sensitive girl, don't do anything that you would regret later. What I mean is…," Rahul was speaking.
"I get it Rahul", Ram said, closing his eyes.

"Thanks doctor I owe you one", Krisha Rahul's wife came down with Priya.
"It's no problem", Priya said with a smile
"I think we should get going Priya, Dadi is alone and its almost one," Ram said looking at his watch.
"Yes, thank you, Rahul", Priya thanked him again as Ram stood up to leave.

Priya grabbed her handbag and followed him outside, saying bye. They again walked in silence, and this time there was distance between the two. Ram wanted to break the silence between them, but he didn't know what to say to her anymore.

"I am really sorry for doubting you", Priya apologized, feeling a little awkward.
"It's okay," Ram tried to sound casual, "anybody would have done the same. Thanks for taking care of my Dadi."
"She's like my own", she told him and he looked at her, "She's all I got", she turned to look at him and he could make out unexplainable tears in her eyes.
"And… um… since you asked before I'd like to tell you What I doing with dual handguns?", he admitted and was surprised to see that she wasn't scared or anything now, "I have carried handguns for my self defence I trained in self defence and I have license for my handguns."

When my father was returning home from office, goons attacked him. When I was 12, my mom couldn't take the shock and died of illness when I was 15. My Dada Ji took me after my parents. After the death of my parents, my grandparents also suffered a severe lost in their life. And after the death of my father, my family business also suffered a major loss. My Dada Ji tried very hard to save our family business, but he could not save our business and Dada Ji sold everything and shift in a small house. After that, he had only one dream for me was to become a big businessman. Dada Ji sends me to London for my studies. They did a lot for me... All this happened because of a goon attacked If there was no goon attacked happen with my father then my father would be with us today Since I lost my father, I have go out then I should hit that goon who killed my father. And I tried to do this many times but my Dadaji he explained These attacks happen every day, today are with your father, tomorrow should be with someone else And I asked him we can't finish this we cannot do this because The thief steals because of the habit of some, the compulsion of some, the profession of some and the desire to make money quickly with no hard work. Why don't police stop this I asked him Police cannot be present everywhere and such an incident happens he said?
So how do we stop all this If this continues, how many people lost their lives he said, self defence so we can protect ourselves self-defence? I ask him If someone does not able protect himself, then there are others, he should be shout for help from other people and people will help those who have been attacked.
You think how much those thieves will be 3 and 5 The people who are present their when that incident happens if they will all come together and they will stop such incidents. The thieves will run away after seeing the people and there will not be such incidents. If every citizen of the country gets along, then we can do anything
"Yes, Dada Ji you're right I told him and he said If such an accident happens in front of you, then you will help those people and I made a promise to my Dada Ji and myself when someone is in trouble, I help them.

"Your Dada ji would have been proud", Priya said the very thing he wanted to hear, possibly from the time he became an lifesaver.

"You knew him?", Ram asked.
"Yes, our grandfathers were friends too," she told him a matter-of-fact tone, "You're exactly like your grandfather, he would have done the same to those goons."

"Really?", Ram asked she just nodded, "Well, I am not used to sitting around; they were a bit of exercise and they kinda got on my nerves."
"But I was half scared to death", Priya said, and tears rolled down her cheeks.
Ram moved closer and wiped her tears with his cold hands and said, "I think that's the second time today, so how come you're still alive?"

Priya smiled at him warmly, "So you ran opposite direction to get to me," she asked.
"Who told you that," Ram asked.
"Krisha told me you left at 12:00 AM to get home and then I assume you called me and ran to get to hospital right," she put forth her theory.
"Yes, I was reminded of Dadi's word," Ram said, "and the incident with that cab driver."
"I am glad you did otherwise those goons would have…", she became sad again.
"Let's leave that matter for now and have a good night's sleep or watch another horror movie, what do you say," Ram asked as they neared their house after an eventful night.
"I think we should just sleep," Priya said with a smile

Once they stepped inside the house, Priya moved to ready Ram's bed while Ram headed upstairs to her room to change into his sleepwear. They both said their good nights and went to sleep without any word. Ram was so much tired to think about anything. As soon as he got into bed, he dozed off and he was so tired that he hadn't had any nightmares that night."

"Ram wake up", Ram opened his eyes and focused them a bit to see Priya was sitting in front of him.

"What? Did you have nightmares?", Ram asked a little groggily.
"No it's Dadi, I checked her this morning to see if she was awake or not but she was not, it's not like her but I checked her, she is alright. I've to go to the hospital and have made your breakfast already. Just take care of her okay; and don't leave her today okay; and call me if you face a problem, get it?", Priya spoke slowly and clearly, making sure that he got what she said, then took her coat and walked out of the house quietly.

Ram laid there on the couch for a couple of moments. Then he got up, picked up his bed and went to check on his Dadi. She was still sleeping. Without making any noise, he got his clothes and used Priya's bathroom. When he got out, he checked once again in his Dadi room, but she was not there. He ran down the stairs and found her sitting on the dining table having breakfast.

"So how are you, Dadi?", Ram asked, trying to be a bit cheerful, disguising his concern.
"I am good", she replied casually, sipping her tea, "What about you?"
"I am fine", Ram said, moving to get his breakfast from the kitchen.
"Where's Priya?", she asked as he walked with a plate of Aloopatatha.
"Oh… you just missed her. She's off to work now," he told her, sitting down to eat.
"Yes, today I woke up late. I was waiting for you both but you didn't show up and it got very late so I slept," she explained, "I guess I slept later than usual so woke up late as well. Anyway, when did you get home?", she questioned.
"I think sometime around 1:30 AM," Ram answered.
"Oh, if I've had tolerated my sleep half an hour more, I could have wished you goodnight," she said.

Ram was relieved that the rest of the day went without any problems, his Dadi acted all cheerful the entire day but didn't show any sign of illness. Priya showed up exactly at 5:00 PM and he was more than relieved to see her. She got changed and made dinner for them. It was nothing too special, just an average meal. Dadi had her meal and Priya helped her up to her room, after which she walked back to the kitchen to do the dished and Ram decided to help her out.

"She behaves weird sometimes, it's no big deal", Priya told Ram while doing dishes, when he told her that she had be exceptionally cheerful that day.
"I was a bit worried if something happened in your absence, I wasn't sure that I'll be able to handle it," Ram confessed.
"Yes, I was little worried", Priya said, washing the last plate and handing it to him to dry.
They both walked to the living room and slumped on the couch at the same time and couldn't help but laugh a bit. Then Ram's Dadi yelled out loud, "RAM! PRIYA!"

They rushed to her room and found her sitting on the bed grinning at them, "Dadi you shouldn't scream like that", Ram said, moving in her room sitting on her bed near her legs.
"Yes, we thought you tripped or something", Priya said, taking her seat next to her and in front of Ram.
"I wanted to show you this," she held out a case.
"What is it?", Ram asked.
She opened the case and revealed a pair of beautiful pair of rings, "Engagement rings. I bought it for you two", she said excitedly, showing it to them.

"How did you get that?", Priya asked her in surprise.
"You know my friend's husband is a jeweler, so I asked them to bring me the latest and most beautiful pair of engagement rings, so they did and they even home delivered it. I paid them from the cash, which I got from the money I got of the insurance, after your grand father's death. I want you guys to get engaged, that's why I bought it," she said with a smile, that she had been fashioning the entire day.
"But…", Priya tried to speak something.
"No if's or buts, do as I say. You two won't be seeing me for long and I Wanna make sure that somebody is there to look after you two when I am not here," she said in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Dadi, we don't love each other", Ram said, thinking about Isha.
"Look Ram, I don't know about that all I know is that you two will be happy together," Dadi said plainly.
"Okay, but give us some time to know each other", Priya tried to convince her to put the matter down for now.
"You will take all the time and I'll be dead before I know it," Dadi said, huffing.
"Dadi, these decisions can't be made overnight," Ram tried to reason with her.
"I've thought about it long enough," she said stubbornly.
"But… ", this time Ram was cut off.
"I said no ifs, no buts. You two want me to be ashamed of myself when I'll meet your grandmother and your parents and grandfather," she said, huffing a bit.
"Dadi you know it, don't you? I've told you before. Please drop this idea of our marriage, please," Priya pleaded.
"You don't want to get married, then have it your way, you two. Don't come running to me afterwards. Now go and let me sleep," she snapping the ring box shut and settled down within her blankets and gave them her back.

They both stood up and Priya tried to pull the blanket on her but Dadi slapped her hands and rudely told them to get out, so they had no choice but leave wishing her good night but she didn't wish them back. They both stood in silence outside her room. Both thought about something and they turned to look at each other and sighed in distress.

"I guess we should better get some sleep, it's been a weird day," Priya said.
"Yes, I guess you're right," Ram agreed.
"Let me make your bed", Priya said, and Ram nodded. Priya moved downstairs and Ram went to change in his pajamas.

When he got back Priya only said goodnight and gave him a weak smile which was one of the few things he wanted to see right now. He switched off the hall lights and went to lie in his comfortable bed. He lied on the bed, eyes wide open, staring blankly at ceiling thinking about his Dadi and her wish. Things somehow had gotten really complicated. He wasn't ready to be something called marriage, he couldn't even manage to keep a girlfriend, and the last thing he wanted was to have a stressful relationship with his wife. He shook his head to stop such thoughts and closed his eyes to get some sleep.
